Solar Power System

The Solar Power system consists of the following components:

Solar PV Panel rated at 28W
PV Solar Regulator
Network Logger
Measurement box
85Ahr Leisure Battery
600W Inverter

Network Logger

The Network Logger is based on an ioBridge module. This module is connected to the ioBridge website via an Ethernet link and uploads data for logging and analysis.

The live graphs on this web page show raw binary data collected over a rolling three day period.
Long term data can be downloaded from the ioBridge website for analysis using MS Excel.

See ioBridge.com for details of the ioBridge module.

Measurement Box

The Measurement Box contains a dropper resistor network to scales the battery voltage down to 5V for measurement by the Network Logger. The indicates voltage range is from +8V to +16.4V

A small Hall Effect sensor is used to measure the input current to the battery from the solar PV charge controller. The voltage from this sensor is measured and scaled by the Network Logger to indicate a range -1A to +5A.

A calibrated copper PCB track is used as a low value resistor to measure battery output current. An op-amp circuit amplifies the small voltage across the PCB track and scales it for the Network Logger. The indicated range is 0A to +28A
